(Reuters) -Dutch club Feyenoord's Europa League home match against Greek side Panathinaikos on Thursday has been brought forward to 4:30 p.m. (1430 GMT) from the original 6:45 p.m. kickoff due to severe weather warnings.
Authorities requested the change after forecasters issued a Code Orange alert for strong winds exceeding 100 km/h, the Rotterdam-based club said late on Wednesday. UEFA and Feyenoord agreed the game could only proceed with the earlier start.
"Feyenoord realizes that this change is very last-minute and may affect existing plans, especially for supporters with tickets. However, the club also considers this a case of force majeure," Feyenoord said in a statement.
The club also confirmed that fans unable to attend can request refunds, with details to be shared next week.
