(Reuters) -Spanish club Mallorca have suspended midfielder Dani Rodriguez without pay and stripped him of the captaincy after the 37-year-old publicly complained about being benched during their weekend defeat at Real Madrid when his family was watching.

The punishment followed Rodríguez's social media rant in which he complained that his children had not been able to watch him play at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium on Saturday.
