Soccer-Atalanta's Retegui scores late to rescue 3-2 win at Genoa

(Reuters) -A last-gasp goal by Mateo Retegui earned Atalanta a 3-2 win at Genoa in Serie A on Saturday as both teams played out an entertaining clash despite having nothing left to fight for.

Atalanta, who secured Champions League qualification when they beat AS Roma on Monday, are third on 74 points from 37 games, four points off leaders Napoli and three behind second-placed Inter Milan who both have a game in hand.

Genoa sit 13th with 40 points.

Genoa took a surprise lead when striker Andrea Pinamonti nodded home in the 37th minute. Mattia Bani thought he had doubled the advantage for the hosts just before the break but VAR ruled the goal out for a handball.

Atalanta levelled after the interval through Ibrahim Sulemana, who shot from distance, before Pinamonti restored the lead for Genoa in the 58th minute with a low strike inside the near post.

But Atalanta equalised again when Daniel Maldini struck from the edge of the area five minutes later and the league's leading scorer Retegui wrapped up the points a minute from fulltime with a close-range shot that went in off the post for his 25th goal of the season.
