PETALING JAYA: Perak’s Brazilian winger Clayton Silva is hoping to settle his salary dispute with the club through a dialogue.
But if a resolution is not reached through the proper channel, the 29-year-old Silva is ready to bring the matter to FIFA.
Silva said the Brazilian embassy in Malaysia has already stepped in and initiated a formal process to address the issue.
He has been a prominent voice for Perak players since news broke that the club would withdraw from the Super League and only pay 20 percent of the six months in back wages owed to players.
Frustrated and disappointed, Silva took to social media to call out the club’s management, urging them to honour their commitments.
“So far, the response has been negative,” said Silva.
“They didn’t like what I posted and told me to delete it. But I’m just asking for fairness, I’m open to discussion and understand the club’s limitations, but this needs a solution.”
Silva added: “I have a wife and children. We have bills to pay. It’s not just about me, my teammates are also suffering.
“Many are struggling financially and mentally. Fortunately, we have the support of coaches, fellow players, and fans.”
Silva’s agent is actively engaging with the club in hopes of finding a compromise, but the clock is ticking.
“We’re open to settling this amicably. But if it doesn’t happen, we’ll take the case to FIFA. The Brazilian embassy is already involved,” he added.
Despite the uncertainty, Silva is eyeing his next move with his agent communicating with several Malaysian clubs including Terengganu, Sabah, Kuala Lumpur City, Kuching City, Police and Penang.
There’s also interest from abroad, with clubs in Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Kuwait, Germany’s lower divisions, and the Middle East reaching out.
“I’d love to stay in Malaysia, I’ve enjoyed it here. But ultimately, it depends on the offers and opportunities that come my way.”
A former Brazil Under-23 international, Silva has featured in 22 Super League matches last season, scoring eight goals.
