Soccer-Gimenez double lifts Boca Juniors to top after 4-0 win over Defensa y Justicia

BUENOS AIRES (Reuters) - Milton Gimenez scored twice as Boca Juniors cruised to a 4-0 home win over Defensa y Justicia on Sunday in the Argentine Primera Division Apertura tournament to temporarily take top spot in Group A.

Former Manchester United and Paris St Germain striker Edison Cavani opened the scoring in the ninth minute and Gimenez doubled the lead just after the half-hour mark.

Gimenez scored his second from close range five minutes after the break, and Miguel Merentiel netted the fourth goal nine minutes from time, assisted by Exequiel Zeballos.

Boca are now top of Group A on 23 points from 10 games, two clear of Tigre, who face Central Cordoba on Monday.
