Muniz reminds JDT that in-form Turtles won’t be easy meat

PETALING JAYA: Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) player Juan Muniz (pic) admitted that their first-leg match of the Malaysia Cup semi-final away from home tomorrow will not be an easy encounter.

JDT will take on Terengganu at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium and Muniz said they had their work cut out for them to secure a good cushion for the return leg.

“It will be a difficult time for us, considering the momentum the Terengganu team are in after they won big in the Asean Club Championship last week,’’ he said.

“Therefore, it is very important for JDT to get a comfortable win and be more careful not to make simple mistakes like in the first-half of the Super League match against Sabah last week.

“We also know that Terengganu have many good players.

“I believe this match will be more difficult than our meetings in the Super League, with Terengganu having the advantage of playing at home first.

“It is always difficult to perform there but we must grab the opportunity as early as the first half and we will fight until the final whistle.”

For the record, JDT, then under coach Esteban Solari, crushed Selangor 6-1 to lift the Malaysia Cup at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil in August last year.

The other semi-final match will be between Sabah and Pahang on Saturday.
