Kinoshi promises fans a top show from Selangor in AFC match against Thais

PETALING JAYA: Selangor’s new coach Katsuhito Kinoshi is ready to make an immediate impression.

He has promised the fans to expect a good match from his charges when the Red Giants clash with Thai club Muangthong United in the AFC Champions League Two Group H at the Petaling Jaya Stadium on Wednesday night (Nov 27).

The game will be his first assignment with the team since arriving here on Monday (Nov 25).

"Last week, I was assisting the Serbian national team when they played Denmark and Switzerland.

"Now I am in Petaling Jaya. I am looking forward to this challenge," he said during the pre-match press conference.

"I've taken charge of two training sessions now, and I can see the boys are fit to take on Muangthong.

"We do not care about their system of play, we are focused on how we play. We will maintain our aggressive style of football and adopt a never-give-up attitude.

"They (Muangthong) may have top players like (Felicio) Brown, (Emil) Roback or (Scott) Woods, but Selangor have Ronnie (Fernandez), (Yohandry) Orozco, Alvin (Fortes), Mickey (Faisal Halim), Ajmal (Mukhairi Ajmal Mahadi), Safuwan (Baharuddin) and Q (Quentin Cheng)."

Kinoshi said Selangor would be out to get three points and book a spot in the knockout stages.

Selangor are second in the league with seven points, while Muangthong are third with five points.
