Selangor vs Pahang the pick of the Round-of-16 ties in Malaysia Cup

PETALING JAYA: Two exciting round-of-16 ties headline the Malaysia Cup as Pahang faces off against Selangor, and Kedah takes on Kuala Lumpur.

Selangor, with a record 33 Malaysia Cup titles, will battle four-time champions Pahang in a two-legged contest starting at the Temerloh Stadium.

Five-time champions Kedah will face a strong challenge from four-time champions Kuala Lumpur, who last claimed the title in 2021 before Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) won consecutively in 2022 and 2023.

JDT, with an easier draw, will meet the A1 Semi-Pro League side Kuala Lumpur Rovers.

Eight-time Malaysia Cup champions Perak are set to face Kelantan, while four-time winners Penang will play against Kuching City.

Three-time victors Negri Sembilan will go against Police, and 2001 winner Terengganu will compete with Melaka.

Sabah rounds out the round-of-16 matchups by playing against A1 Semi-Pro side Putrajaya Athletic.

Teams failing to reach the quarter-final will automatically enter the MFL Challenge Cup 2024-2025.

JDT are the current champions, having defeated Terengganu 3-1 in the final at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil on Dec 8.
