(Reuters) - Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Hugo Bueno has joined Dutch top-flight side Feyenoord on a season-long loan, the Premier League club said on Tuesday.

The 21-year-old Spaniard made his Wolves debut in 2022 and played 48 times for Wolves across all competitions.

Feyenoord qualified for the Champions League after finishing second in the Eredivisie. Bueno's deal with Wolves runs until 2028.

"Some people might think we’re leaving ourselves short, but we’ve got a number of players who can cover in that area of the pitch and it’s really important for us and Hugo that he goes and plays," Wolves sporting director Matt Hobbs said in a statement.

Wolves begin their Premier League campaign at Arsenal on Saturday.
