Football: Penang record first win of season with 3-0 victory against Kelantan

PETALING JAYA: Penang finally recorded their first Super League home win of the season.

They did so in their third attempt by beating Kelantan 3-0 at the City Stadium in Georgetown on Thursday (Aug 1).

Brazilian striker Rodrigo Dias got the first goal in the 12th minute and then he assisted Nik Akif Syahiran’s goal in the 34th minute.

Captain and Brazilian centreback Rafael Vitor capped off a brilliant night for the home side by burying a penalty in the 75th minute.

In their first two home matches of the season, the Panthers were held by Terengganu 0-0 and lost to Kedah 0-1.

They are seventh in the league with nine points from seven matches, while Kelantan are now bottom of the league with three points from seven games.
