Kuching silence Perak crowd with 2-1 win


PETALING JAYA: Kuching City silenced the Ipoh crowd by beating Perak 2-1 in the Super League at the Perak Stadium here on Tuesday (July 30).

Their African strike duo became the heroes when Ghanaian striker Jordan Mintah scored in the 58th minute, while Ivorian veteran forward Tchetche Kipre scored the winner in the 77th minute.

Perak scored the first goal of the game through veteran winger Wan Zack Wan Haikal in the seventh minute.

Kuching are fourth in the league with 10 points, while Perak are ninth with six points.

In Gong Badak, Terengganu notched their third win of the season by narrowly beating Negri Sembilan 3-2 at the Sultan Mizan Stadium.

Negri first took the lead through Spanish striker Mika Junco in the 16th minute, but the home side equalised in the dying minutes of the first half through captain Safawi Rasid.

Terengganu then got the lead through Nigerian striker Chukwu Chijoike in the 49th minute, but Negri responded four minutes later through Senegalese midfielder Jacques Faye.

Winger Akhyar Rashid got the winner for Terengganu in the 59th minute.

Terengganu are now third in the league with 11 points, while Negri remain bottom with three points.
