PETALING JAYA: Police coach P. Maniam refused to put pressure on his players to bounce back stronger in their second Super League match against Perak at the Ipoh Stadium this Saturday.
What is more important for him is that they are able to maintain their focus and try to give a solid performance against Perak after the Cops lost 0-1 at the hands of Kedah at home last Sunday.
“What I want is for the players to be able to show a high commitment and perform with enthusiasm,” said Maniam, who took over as Police coach for the 2024-2025 season.
“Of course we want to win because it’s important for the team to collect points and move forward.
“But if the players don’t work hard and don’t show quality performances, it might be difficult to achieve (a win).
“The important thing is that they have to do their job properly.’’
Maniam is optimistic that the Police players will be able to give a solid performance as planned in an effort to collect their first win of the season.
“It is true that playing away from home is not an easy task and Perak are also a strong team but our preparations to face that team are going on well and all the main players are fit to be sent out,” he added.
Police finished an impressive eighth out of 14 teams in the Super League last year.
