Malaysia continues to fall in Fifa rankings

PETALING JAYA: Harimau Malaya have dropped down the world rankings again.

Malaysia were now ranked 138th in the world dropping six places down from 132, based on the latest Fifa rankings unveiled on April 4 (Thursday).

Before the Asian Cup in January, Malaysia were ranked 130th but then fell two spots in February after failing to register any wins in the tournament and could only etch a draw against South Korea 2-2.

A slip happened again after Malaysia failed to register wins against Oman during the World Cup 2026-Asian Cup 2027 second-round qualifiers, where they lost both matches 0-2.

Malaysia have a chance to move up the ladder again in June, but they must make sure that they get victories in the remaining qualifying matches against Kyrgyzstan (June 6) in Bishkek and Taiwan (June 11) in Kuala Lumpur.
