PETALING JAYA: Nooa Laine has finally realised his dream of playing in the Malaysian Super League, and he is stoked.
The 21-year-old has signed to play for Selangor on a one-year loan deal from his Finnish club SJK Seinajoki.
The deal was announced on Saturday by the club as they were looking for a replacement for former captain Brendan Gan, who decided to leave the club earlier this month.
Last year, the possibility of it became close as the Finnish-born Malaysian and his agent saw chances to play in Malaysia.
“My dad is from Malaysia, so we were talking about the possibility of coming here to play,” said Laine, who made his debut for Malaysia last year and has won five caps so far with Harimau Malaya.
“I feel really good and proud to have signed for Selangor on loan. I feel Selangor is the best place for me to get a first eleven spot and achieve something.
“My strength is always with the ball and bringing balance in midfield. I can also break defensive lines with my passing and I also can run with the ball. I can also shoot from a distance. Chemistry wouldn’t be an issue because I know most of the players from the national team.
“I am also flexible, so I can also try myself in various positions,” said Laine who aims to help the club do well in the domestic competitions and also in the AFC Champions League Two.
