Marauding Rhinos gore hapless Warriors to go fourth

KUALA LUMPUR: Sabah climbed up to fourth spot after thrashing Kelantan 7-0 in their Super League match at the UiTM Shah Alam Stadium on Monday.

The marauding Rhinos went three up in the first half, opening accounts in the 25th minute through a penalty by Jafri Chew after Portuguese playmaker Telmo Castanheira (pic) was brought down.

Four minutes later, Farhan Roslan tapped home off an Irfan Zakaria header to make it 2-0 before Rizal Ghazali’s blistering shot in the 39th minute after a lovely run gave Sabah a comfy 3-0 lead at half time.

Sabah continued the rout in the second half, when Irfan Fazail struck from a distance to score in the 56th minute.

With Kelantan a disheartened lot by then, Castanheira made short work of the Red Warriors’ defence when he tucked in a cross from R. Dinesh in the 68th minute for the fifth goal before Brazilian striker Ramon Mendoza fired home Sabah’s sixth two minutes later.

With a minute left before the final whistle, S. Kumaahran headed home a cross by Rizal for their seventh. — Bernama
