Harimau Muda down Phillipines 4-0 to get second win at AFC U-23 Asian Cup qualifiers


PETALING JAYA: Harimau Muda got their second win in Group H of the AFC Under-23 Asian Cup qualifiers by beating the Philippines 4-0 at the Chonburi Stadium on Saturday (Sept 9).

The first goal came as early as the first minute when Malaysia U-23 captain and midfielder Mukhairi Ajmal Mahadi scored the goal off a Fergus Tierney pass.

Winger T. Saravanan got his first of the game when he finished off a cross from striker Luqman Hakim in the sixth minute.

Centreback Harith Haiqal Adam Afkar got the third by unleashing a superb shot from 20 metres in the 23rd minute.

Saravanan got his second of the game when he received another assist from Fergus in the 61st minute.

Malaysia will next take on host Thailand at the Chonburi Stadium on Sept 12.
