Local players shine in Turtles’ win

PETALING JAYA: Local lads starred in Terengganu’s third consecutive victory and eight-match unbeaten run in the Super League.

The Turtles defeated Kuching City 2-0 at the City Stadium in Kuching yesterday.

Centreback Shahrul Nizam Ros Hani scored the first goal with a superb pile driver from 20 metres out in the 42nd minute.

The second goal came in the second half when midfielder Engku Nur Shakir Engku Yakob continued his fine form in the league by scoring in the 55th minute.

The 24-year-old headed off a shot from winger Hakimi Abdullah, to increase his goal tally to five in all competitions this season.

Thanks to the win, Terengganu are just two points behind fifth placed Pahang with 35 points from 21 matches.

Kuching City remained rooted at the bottom of the 14-team league with seven points from 19 matches.
