PETALING JAYA: Kuala Lumpur will have a chance to hone their football skills with a LaLiga team, thanks to a partnership with Cadiz CF.
Both clubs have signed an agreement yesterday to boost each other’s branding and image in Malaysia and Spain, and explore potential partnerships for commercial benefit.
Under the partnership, KL will head to Spain to join Cadiz FC’s pre-season training and play a friendly match with the club’s first team.
“This is a tremendous opportunity for KL to learn the best practices from a team competing in one of the best leagues,” said the club’s chief executive officer Stanley Bernard Samuel.
“Our players and coaches will also be exposed to training programmes and coaching courses organised either in Malaysia or Spain.”
The agreement was signed on behalf of KL by Stanley, while Cadiz CF were represented by their director of operations, Jose Luiz Donoso Alvarez, and presided over by Malaysia LaLiga delegate Adrian Prol Vazquez.
“We love to have more Spanish clubs with a presence in this part of the world. Promoting football across the world is among the main objectives for our globalistation strategy. This collaboration is a great example of this,” said Adrian.
“We believe a partnership with KL is a strong first step into the Malaysian market.
‘‘We look forward to seeing their players with us in Spain and bringing our team to the region soon,” said Cadiz co-owner Ben Harburg.
“There will be more collaborations between KL and worldwide clubs to increase our brand value,” added the club’s majority shareholder Azri Azerai.
