Football: Young Tigers off to a poor start in the AFC Under-17 Asian Cup


PETALING JAYA: The Malaysia Under-17 team are off to a rough start in the AFC Under-17 Asian Cup when they lost their opening Group A match to Yemen 0-4 at the Thammasat Stadium in Bangkok on Thursday (June 15).

Playing in the tournament after five years, coach Osmera Omaro wanted his boys to start well in the tournament but they looked devoid of ideas throughout the game.

Yemen’s goals were scored by Abdulrahman Al-Khadher (21st minute), Adel Qasem (31st), Anwar Al-Turiqi (46th) and an own goal from Adib Ibrahim (87th).

Malaysia will next take on host nation Thailand at the Pathum Thani Stadium on June 18 and complete their group fixture against Laos at the Thammasat Stadium on June 21.
