Aguero leaves sentiments aside in tie against former club

PETALING JAYA: Pahang midfielder Sergio Aguero is all primed up to face his former side Perak in the first round of the FA Cup today.

The clash will be held at the Perak Stadium and Aguero is eager to help the Elephants get to the round of 16 where they are likely to face Selangor.

And Aguero will be the man to watch as he has impressed in the Super League for Pahang, scoring two goals and being the main playmaker for the team.

When asked if facing Perak is an extra motivation for him, the Argentinian-born player said there is no extra motivation as he always respects Perak as a former side and having worn their jersey before.

But he did say it is a crucial game because of the knockout nature and will go all out to take down Perak in the competition.

“It is a crucial game because it is a knockout game. For me, it is not an extra motivation, but of course, Perak treated me very well, and I will always be grateful to the teammates, staff at that time and fans,” said Aguero, who has fond memories of his time playing there.

“Currently, Perak are playing well. In some games, they don’t have the luck, but I see the idea and philosophy of the coach are there.

“They will try to get the first victory, but we are here to qualify for the next round.”
