PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Football League (MFL) announced two leading local television stations, Astro and RTM, as the official broadcasting partners of the Malaysian League this season.
The involvement of Astro and RTM will promise a more comprehensive match broadcast and coverage for the satisfaction of the home fans.
Astro will broadcast all matches in high definition (HD), including Charity Shield, Super League, FA Cup and Malaysia Cup. Those games can also be watched on linear platforms (TV), On Demand and AstroGO.
RTM will broadcast live 75 matches of the Malaysia League 2023, including several competitions, including the Charity Shield, Super League, FA Cup and Malaysia Cup through TV2, Sukan RTM and Okey TV channels as well as live streaming through their RTMKlik application.
MFL president Dato’ Ab Ghani Hassan said the presence of the stations will add excitement to the league, which starts on Feb 24 with the Charity Shield match between Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) and Terengganu at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium.
“I believe with the support and commitment of local broadcasters, it is not only for the satisfaction of the viewing quality in the country but it can also increase the commercial value of the Malaysian League, which will ultimately provide a big return for the team and players,” he said.
Meanwhile, MFL chief executive officer Stuart Ramalingam said the pairing of Astro and RTM as broadcasting partners of the Malaysian League this season would meet the needs of local fans who want comprehensive and exciting coverage.
“MFL believe that these two broadcasting partners share an objective and focus on meaningful content, so we have found the best partner to rebuild the brand and impact of the Malaysian League to a higher level,” he said.
