PETALING JAYA: It looks like the salary woes plaguing Sarawak United will not end anytime soon.
Although the Malaysian Football League (MFL) stated that the Borneo club had settled their players’ and officials’ wages, their former coach and football director B. Sathianathan (pic) has denied this.
In a letter issued by his lawyer, Sathianathan refuted the club’s claims that they had completed all payments.
The 64-year-old coach who left the club in June added: “I terminated my contract by mutual agreement on June 12, 2022, due to health reasons.
“Following that, I requested from Sarawak United my salary arrears which include payments for the year 2021 and arrears for Feb 2022 until June 2022 (five months) and tax payment. I’ve yet to receive my dues.
“And while seeking medical treatment, I found out that there was no insurance policy in my name. I had to cough up my own money to cover the costs.”
Sathianathan also claimed that the management did not respond to his enquiries which led him to engage a lawyer to pursue legal action against the club.
“I urge the MFL to further make a detailed investigation on them for failing to provide the real facts related to the club’s debt because I have never signed any letter of agreement to receive payment in instalments, and until now, my claims have not been fully settled.”
