KUALA LUMPUR: The Regent of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah has expressed his disappointment with the current situation in the Selangor team.

Tengku Amir Shah, who is also the Football Association of Selangor (FAS) president, said many had made inaccurate assumptions and allegations regarding his involvement in the management of the team.

He stressed that not everything he does with Selangor should be made known on social media sites.

“For everyone’s knowledge, every important technical and management decision of the club is based on the direction set by me and based on my approval.

“These decisions are made based on my observation and also through a series of detailed discussions with the sports director, board members and relevant committees,” Tengku Amir Shah said in a statement yesterday.

Tengku Amir said he was aware that the team’s recent performance was not up to expectations, but he assured that he and the management had identified the weaknesses that need to be improved on.

“I, together with team’s management, have started tackling these issues and began working for next season which will be followed by several new technical appointments including sports director, technical director, coaching department as well as other steps that need to be taken to strengthen Selangor,” Tengku Amir said.

He also urged all Selangor supporters to continue to be united and not easily be swayed by outside interference.

“I also wish to emphasise and give an assurance that there have never been any parasites in my management. This is actually the time when we need positive, constructive and undivided support from all so that we can together help our beloved team rise again.” — Bernama

Meanwhile, Tengku Amir thanked former FAS vice-president and Selangor board member Izhar Moslim for all his contributions and sacrifices following his resignation on July 7.

The Red Giants are languishing in ninth spot in the Super League after collecting 16 points from 15 matches.

Selangor have now gone six seasons without any titles after they last enjoyed success in 2015 when they won the Malaysia Cup. — Bernama
