KUALA NERUS: Terengganu coach Nafuzi Zain was disappointed after the team failed to collect three points while playing at home against Negri Sembilan.

Both teams played to a goalless draw in their Super League match at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium on Wednesday.

The homesters had the first look at goal through an attempt by import player Kipre Tchetche in the 12th minute.

However, Tchetche’s shot went just wide to the left of the goalmouth, which was tightly guarded by national goalkeeper Ahmad Syihan Hazmi.

Negri also had a good chance to score in the 24th minute but Ahmad Khuzaimi Piee’s free-kick sailed over the crossbar.

Terengganu kept up the pressure in the first half and were presented with a golden opportunity in the 36th minute when Nik Sharif Haseefy Mohd Lazim passed the ball to Kpah Sherman but his shot went narrowly wide off the right post.

In the final minutes of the first half, Tchetche was again in the thick of action but still failed to convert.

After the interval, the Turtles continued to dominate, making three dangerous attempts which all came to nothing.

The situation remained deadlocked until the final whistle.

Nafuzi said his squad failed to take advantage of the many opportunities to score a goal, resulting in only one point.

“It’s a shame that we missed three points, especially after we lost to Penang in the previous match,” said Nafuzi.

“Overall, I’m satisfied with the performance of my players despite the heavy rain.”

Nafuzi said he was also satisfied with the performance of his two import strikers, Sherman and Tchetche who had shown high commitment and determination to assist the team.

Meanwhile, Negri head coach K. Devan praised the performance of his men who managed to play well throughout the 90 minutes.

He was also satisfied that his squad managed to bring home one point from the match, as the Turtles were among the more formidable teams. — Bernama
