PETALING JAYA: Former internationals S. Kumaahran and Darren Lok had a great partnership in Johor Darul Ta’zim II in 2018 and know each other quite well.
After four years, they will be renewing their partnership, this time for Petaling Jaya City FC.
The ex-Melaka striker is looking forward to reliving old times.
“I teamed up with Darren once in JDT II. I believe there will be understanding and compatibility between us on the field.
“I will be happy if I am fielded. Together with Darren, I believe we can get the team into the top five of the Super League,” said Kumaahran.
The 25-year-old striker is one of the team’s new signings along with Azfa Arif Mohd Sukri, R. Aroon Kumar, R. Barathkumar, Nasir Basharudin, Marcus Mah and A. Shivan Pillay. Coach P. Maniam announced the team list at the PJ City FC new player introductory ceremony yesterday.
Kumaahran said he had high hopes for PJ City.
“The team did not do well in the past. With the new signings joining us, we hope we can reach the top this year.”
PJ City FC finished seventh last season.
Asked about his targets, Kumahraan said: “I have my goals but what is important is for the team to get three points and it doesn’t matter who scores.
“If I get the opportunity, I will use it. I hope to score more goals this time.
Last year, Kumaahran managed six goals for Melaka but he aims to get at least 10 for PJ City FC.
“I had an injury one time in the last season but it was not very serious. I will recover quickly.”
