Two players test positive

PETALING JAYA: It is not the ideal start for Malaysia in the AFF Suzuki Cup.

Key winger Faisal Halim and goalkeeper Khairulazhan Khalid has been tested positive for Covid-19 and will undergo a 10-day quarantine.

Team manager Datuk Yusoff Mahadi said the duo tested positive after they underwent a Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) test at Changi airport.

“They did not show any symptoms, so it is asymptomatic. The others are negative and will be available against Cambodia,” he said.

Faisal’s absence will be a blow as he has been one of the best wingers in this season’s Super League and Malaysia Cup matches.

Khairulazhan played several games during the 2022 World Cup-2023 Asian Cup second round qualifiers.
