Supersub Syahmi to the rescue as S'gor come from behind to beat Melaka 3-2 in Super League

Melaka's Montengrin striker Stefan Nikolic holds off Selangor's Sharul Bazeem Zulpakar during the match.

PETALING JAYA: Selangor will have to thank their super-sub, Syahmi Safari, who scored the winning goal in their come-from-behind 3-2 win against Melaka in the Super League at the Hang Jebat Stadium Sunday (April 18).

Melaka first took the lead through Montenegrin striker Stefan Nikolic in the 45th minute, but the Red Giants responded in the second half when Nigerian striker Ifedayo Olusegun scored in the 51st minute.

Melaka regained the lead when Ahmad Syamim Yahya headed S. Kumaahran’s corner in the 59th minute but Olusegun played spoiler when he equalised in the 70th minute.

Syahmi got the last laugh when he unleashed a half volley in the 88th minute to disappoint the Melaka fans.

Selangor are now fifth with 14 points, while Melaka remain 10th with seven points.
