Konate can’t wait to form a deadly partnership with Shitembi

PETALING JAYA: Striker Makan Konate (pic) can’t wait to partner up with Petrus Shitembi to add bite in Terengganu’s attack in the Super League.

The 29-year-old from Mali said he had been a fan of Shitembi since they played against each other in a friendly match last year.

At the time, Konate played for Persebaya Surabaya, while the Namibian was with Sabah.

Now that they are playing for the Turtles, Konate hopes his combination with Shitembi will help the team finish top two in the league.

“Shitembi is skilful with the ball, his left foot is good. He is creative and his set-pieces are brilliant too. I hope both of us beef up Terengganu’s attacks, ” said Konate.

While ready to play his role, Konate is also pleased with the dearth of young talents in the team.

“Terengganu have a good project for younger players, and I can’t wait to impart my knowledge to these boys, ” added the 1.78m-tall player, who was in Terengganu before when he played with T-Team from 2016-2017.

Terengganu’s first match is against UiTM at the UiTM Stadium in Shah Alam on March 6.
