PETALING JAYA: Shahrul Nizam Ros Hani (pic) has always kept an eye out for an opportunity to play with Terengganu.
And now that the former Kelantan centreback has been hired by the Turtles, Shahrul plans to relish every moment.
Having his former President Cup coach Nafuzi Zain in the team has also made his transition easier.
“Terengganu have shown great progress and as a professional, we want to be part of that environment, ” said Shahrul, who made his professional debut with Premier League side Kelantan in the 2018.
“When coach Nafuzi called me (last December), I did not think twice as I always wanted to be part of his team.
“Can I call this a dream come true? Yes, for sure. Terengganu are one of the best sides in the country.”
The 22-year-old player however said he would have to fight with two foreigners – Philippines international Carli De Murga and Australian Chris Herd – to be in the first team.
“It will be challenging but, Insya-Allah (God willing), I will work hard to get the spot. I’ve come this far and I’m not going to let it go to waste.
“It’s not about being supremely gifted, it’s about discipline. Discipline makes you better.
“I hope to help this team bag one trophy and get them into the knockout stage of the AFC Cup.”
Besides Shahrul, De Murga and Herd, the other players signed by Terengganu are Asnan Ahmad, Nik Akif Syahiran, Arif Anwar, Faisal Halim, Azarul Nazareth, Hakimi Abdullah, Petrus Shitembi, Makan Konate and David Da Silva.
