KUALA LUMPUR: Super League defending champions Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) dominated the nominations for the National Football Awards with 10 players in the running for honours.
Defenders Aidil Zafuan Abdul Razak, La’Vere Corbin-Ong and Matthew Davies are in the running for the Best Defender award while midfielder Afiq Fazail is vying for the Best Midfielder gong.
Midfielders Gonzalo Cabrera, Leandro Velazquez and Safawi Rasid have also been nominated in the same category while goalkeeper Farizal Marlias is vying for the Best Goalkeeper trophy.
Their former striker Diogo Luis Santo is nominated along with Ramadhan Saifullah for Best Striker award.
To round things up, JDT head coach Benjamin Mora is in the running for the Best Coach prize. The event will take place virtually on Dec 30. — Bernama
