PETALING JAYA: Kedah, Penang and Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) are through to the quarter-finals of the Malaysia Cup after beating their opponents in contrasting styles on Friday.
In the match of the day, Kedah's relentless first-half showing almost came undone but they persevered to pull off a 3-2 win against Pahang in Alor Setar.
Their goals were scored by Shakir Hamzah (17th minute), Kpah Sherman (36th) and Tchetche Kipre (44th minute), while Muslim Ahmad (49th) and Faizal Rani (88th) reduced the deficit.
At the Larkin Stadium, Super League champions JDT were made to work for their win as they slogged for a 1-0 win over plucky Kuching City.
Arif Aiman scored their solitary goal in the 19th minute.
In Georgetown, Premier League champions Penang enjoyed a good day as they beat Felda United 3-1 at the City Stadium.
Their goals were scored by Casagrande (37th), Amir Azahar (62nd) and Lee Chang-Joon (76th), while Nicolas Velez scored Felda’s solitary goal in the 49th minute.
