SYDNEY (Reuters) - New South Wales Waratahs coach Rob Penney has hit out at reports that Rugby Australia were signing a schoolboy to a multi-million dollar contract, saying they risked undermining morale in a game where players have taken big pay cuts this year.
Local media reported earlier this week that 16-year-old back Joseph Suaalii had spurned a deal with rugby league's South Sydney Rabbitohs to sign a A$3 million ($2.15 million) contract to play the 15-man game.
