PETALING JAYA: Melaka’s seasoned rightback Razman Roslan can’t wait for the 2020 Super League season after almost two months of pre-season training.
The Mousedeer went on a massive rebuilding exercise after letting go of 70% of the players and have played nine friendly matches to get the new and old players in the team to bond.
Among the new players in the team are Haitian striker Sony Norde, Colombian midfielder Romel Morales, Nigerian striker Uche Agba and Thai defender Naruphon Wild Putsorn.
Razman, who converted a spot-kick in the 4-1 win over Premier League side Sarawak United in Kuching last Sunday said the team had needed the extensive pre-season and were now good to go.
He also added that Agba, who scored a brace, and Norde a goal in the win over Sarawak United will be huge threats to their opponents.
“We have a lot of new faces this season after losing more than half of the team, so we started our pre-season quite early and added new players along the way, ” said the 35-year-old.
“After playing nearly 10 matches, I can say the team’s chemistry is good.
“Everyone bonded well throughout the training and the tour we had and I hope we can keep the chemistry going till the end of the season, ” said Razman who can also play as a centreback.
“The management have brought in quality players to strengthen the team... Agba and Norde have the potential to be top scorers, we also have Morales who is young and talented in the midfield.
“I am confident we can challenge the other teams for silverware when the season starts, ” he added.
Razman said Melaka coach Zainal Abidin Hassan will have a massive headache to pick his first XI as they have two quality players in each position.
Also, there is more balance and the competition in the team is tougher this year compared to before, he said.
“The coach will certainly have a headache because everyone is fighting hard in training.
“All the players have to look over their backs because there are players who will take over your spot if you make a mistake, ” said Razman.
