The 22-year-old picked up a metatarsal injury during training after the team returned from their Tour of Medan in Indonesia two weeks ago and now needs surgery.
The midfield dynamo will undergo the surgery today and is expected to be out for three months.
It’s deja vu for Amier as he had missed the opening months of last season with a similar injury.
“It’s frustrating to pick up the same injury around the same time last year. The injury didn’t need surgery last year but this time the doctor has advised me to go under the knife,” said Amier yesterday.
“I had big hopes for the new season.
“Coach Nidzam (Jamil) also had high hopes on me ...we also had a good preparation and everything looked positive before the start of the season.”
“Now, everything we planned will be affected ... I really feel bad for the team. I can only hope that everything goes well in my absence.”
Last season, Daniel made a remarkable comeback from his injury by breaking into the starting XI and helping Felda escape relegation.
His good form in the Super League also won him a spot in the national senior team and also the Under-22 team for the 2019 Philippines SEA Games.
“The only consolation is that I know how it’s going to be on the sidelines following my experience last year.
“I need to keep myself motivated ... I’m a bit down now but I need to bounce back after the surgery,” said the Kuala Lumpur local.
“I need to make sure my recovery and rehab go well and I come back stronger... my aim is to return stronger in March.”
