PETALING JAYA: Perak leftback Nazirul Naim is unfazed by Kedah’s attacking prowess in their FA Cup final at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil on Saturday.
The Red Eagles pack a mean punch up front with their foreign players Fernando Rodriguez, Jona-than Bauman and experienced locals
Mohd Zaquan Adha Abdul Razak, N. Thanabalan, Baddrol Bakthiar and Farhan Roslan.
Between them they have scored a total of 47 goals from 28 matches this season.
But Nazirul is confident the Seladang will have no problem foiling their threat as long as they keep to their game plan.
“We must not lose the ball cheaply. Keep possession and it will stop Kedah from inflicting any damage,” said Nazirul.
The 26-year-old also added that the experience gained from playing in last year’s Malaysia Cup final will come in handy.
“Nobody gave us a ghost of a chance after trailing for most of the match against Terengganu,” he said.
“But we fought hard to draw level and win the shootout. So we know what it takes to win a Cup final. We’ll be ready on Saturday.”
Perak last won the FA Cup in 2004 and Nazirul said the time is ripe to end the 15-year wait.
“We had a slow start to the season and things only started to fall into place after the halfway mark. We played well since then and in the last six matches, we won four, drew one and lost one,” added Nazirul.
“The Malaysia Cup victory has whetted our appetite to win more silverware and we must use our current form to win the FA Cup.”
