‘High spirits’ get senior players nowhere in Timor Leste team

PETALING JAYA: Timor Leste’s Japanese coach Norio Tsukitate did not mince his words after the 7-1 mauling by Malaysia in the first leg of the joint 2022 World Cup and 2023 Asian Cup preliminary qualification match at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil.

Friday’s heavy loss left Tsukitate fuming and he blamed it on the attitude of his older and more experienced players – most of them were not selected for the ongoing qualifiers in Malaysia.
