IPOH: A total of 39 Perak players and officials have received residential lots from the state government following their Malaysia Cup win last year.
Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu said the incentive was a way of saying thank you to the team for bringing home the trophy after 18 years.
“The state’s authorities through the State Executive Council meeting on May 8 approved a residential lot each in Hulu Kinta to those involved.
“With that, we have fulfilled the promise to the players and officials who brought home the Malaysia Cup,” said Ahmad Faizal at the Perak Football Association’s (PAFA) breaking of fast ceremony on Wednesday.
Perak lifted the Cup after beating Terengganu 4-1 in a penalty shootout at the Shah Alam Stadium on Oct 28 last year.
Meanwhile, Ahmad Faizal, who is also PAFA president, wants the players to work harder and improve their position in the Super League.
“I am a little disappointed. With our reputation as Malaysian Cup champions, we are not doing well in the league this season.
“I hope the players will work hard to win the remaining games,” he said. — Bernama
