PETALING JAYA: Table toppers Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) and Pahang experienced contrasting fortunes in their respective Super League matches.
The Southern Tigers downed Felda United 2-0 but the Elephants were punished 0-2 by newcomers PJ City.
Brazilian Diego Luis Santo (pic) was the hero for JDT at the Tun Abdul Razak Stadium in Jengka on Saturday when he scored both the goals in the 38th and 61st minutes to go five points clear of Pahang in the 12-team standings.
Defending champions JDT, thus maintained their unbeaten record this season as they go in search of a sixth consecutive Super League title.
At the Petaling Jaya City Council Stadium (MBPJ), Pahang suffered their first loss of the season at the hands of Felda, whose imports Pedro Henrique (30th minute) and Serginho Filho (61st) found the target.
At the Shah Alam Stadium, Muhammad Syahmi Safari put Selangor 1-0 ahead in the 30th minute before winger Patrick Reichelt equalised for Melaka in the 60th minute as both teams ended up sharing the spoils in a 1-1 draw.
It was also all square at the Manjung Municipal Council Stadium when PKNP drew 2-2 with Terengganu.
PKNP got their goals through Filipino defender Amani Aguinaldo (21st minute) and Ghanaian Homas Abbey (33rd) while Terengganu replied through Kipre Tchetche (30th) and Sanjar Shaakhmedov (68th).
In Premier League action, an early seventh-minute goal by Serbia’s Paunovic Rodoljub was enough for Sabah to edge Selangor United 1-0 at the Likas Stadium in Kota Kinabalu and move up to second spot in the 12-team standings. — Bernama
