PETALING JAYA: Melaka's five match winless run finally came to an end as they edged Kedah 1-0 in their Super League clash.
The Mousedeers Brazilian hitman Casagrande leapt the highest to nod in the winner in the 49th minute at the Hang Jebat Stadium in Melaka on Sunday (April 21).
The much needed win moved Melaka two rungs up the 12-team Super League table with 14 points from 10 matches, while Kedah remained at fourth spot with 15 points.
In the first half, Kedah looked to be on track to claim their third win on the trot but Melaka's goalkeeper Khairul Fahmi Che Mat pulled several saves to deny the Red Eagles from breaking the deadlock.
However, in the second half, Melaka looked much more dangerous with their attacking moves which piled the pressure on Kedah's defence.
Melaka finally got their deserved goal as Casagrande headed in the goal from midfielder Safiq Rahim's cross, four minutes after the restart.
Kedah pressed hard to get the equaliser but the hosts held on to their lead for the hard-fought win.
