SHAH ALAM: Selangor notched its fourth win of the season after beating club side PKNP 2-1 in the Super League at the Shah Alam Stadium Saturday (April 20).
The Red Giants drew first blood in the first half through Sandro Mendonca in the 12th minute when he buried from the spot to beat PKNP goalkeeper Ahmad Asyraaf Omar.
Selangor was given a penalty after Abdul Halim Saari was brought down by Ibni Khozaimi.
The second half was all Selangor as they had most of the dangerous chances in that period.
Faiz Nasir and Sandro were guilty of missing several good chances as the Red Giants were looking for a second goal to deflate PKNP’s hopes of a comeback.
The last fifteen minutes of the game saw PKNP coming back into the game and the introduction of nippy winger Fazrul Hazli Kadri in the 70th minute galvanised the side’s attack.
However, Selangor got their second in the 78th minute when Syahmi Safari finished off a through pass from substitute Norhakim Isa.
Substitute Fazrul gave PKNP a glimmer of hope in the 84th minute when he unleashed a thumping shot from outside the penalty box to reduce the deficit to 2-1.
The scoreline stayed 2-1 as Selangor are now third in the league with 16 points and they also snapped PKNP three-match winning run in the league.
