(Reuters) - Nantes have appointed their former striker Vahid Halilhodzic as their new coach following the sacking of Miguel Cardoso, the French Ligue 1 club announced on Tuesday.

Nantes have made a poor start to the season, winning only one of their first eight games under Portuguese Cardoso to sit second from bottom in the league.
