(Reuters) - West Ham United have been dealt a blow in their preparations for the new Premier League season after the club said on Thursday that striker Andy Carroll and defender Winston Reid will be out for a minimum of three months due to ongoing injury problems.

Carroll, who featured and scored in West Ham's pre-season friendly against Swiss side FC Winterthur on Sunday, will undergo an ankle operation while Reid will need knee surgery due to an injury he sustained at Swansea City last season.
