(Reuters) - Tim Cahill led the way as a host of Socceroos paid tribute to the contribution coach Ange Postecoglou made to Australian football after his abrupt resignation as coach of the national team seven months before the World Cup.

The 52-year-old stood down on Wednesday after taking Australia to the 2014 World Cup finals, winning the 2015 Asian Cup and qualifying for the 2018 version of soccer's showpiece event in his four years in charge.
