PETALING JAYA: The Football Malaysia Limited Liability Partnership (FMLLP) have postponed the M-League and Malaysia Cup fixtures to aid the national teams’ preparations for two major tournaments.
The M-League organisers have agreed to postponed their matches to give the national senior and Under-22 teams ample time to get ready for the Asian Cup qualifying rounds and the Kuala Lumpur SEA Games.
In the Super League, matches scheduled on Sept 30 will be moved to Sept 27 and those on Oct 21 will now be held on Oct 28. As for the Malaysia Cup, matches slated for Aug 9 will now be held on Sept 9.
The national senior team will take on North Korea in their second Group B match on Oct 5 and Hong Kong on Sept 10, while the Under-22 side will kick off their SEA Games campaign on Aug 16.
The changes to the fixtures will see the Malaysia Cup final postponed from Oct 28 to Nov 4.
The decision is seen as a compromise for the M-League teams and the national teams following the shambolic preparation of the Under-23 team for the 2018 AFC Under-23 qualifiers last week after Super League champions Johor Darul Ta’zim, Pahang and Penang refused to release their players for training.
