SERDANG: The Allianz Junior Football Camp (AJFC) has signed off on a spectacular note, with debutants East Malaysia crowned champions of the AJFC Malaysia League Grand Finals.
East Malaysia beat the Northern zone 2-0 with goals from Mohd Mirzan Norji and Izwan Zikry Jasman in the national finals at the Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Stadium yesterday.
After the final, the best 13 players from AJFC were also picked for the AJFC Asia in Bali from Aug 1-4, where the three best Malaysian players will be selected for a once- in-a-lifetime chance to train at Bayern Munich from Aug 17-22.
Selection panel head Datuk Richard Scully said the players have showed marked improvement since last year’s edition and believes that the experience gained in the AJFC will be an eye-opener.
“Sabah played without pressure in the final and are the deserving winners and I congratulate the 13 players selected for the AJFC Asia camp in Bali,” said Richard yesterday.
“These 13 players should use this AJFC camp to enhance their knowledge and enrich their experience. Some of them will get a chance to train with Bayern Munich and I wish them good luck.”
AJFC ambassador and former Bayern Munich striker Giovane Elber said the 13 players selected from Malaysia should just enjoy the Bali camp experience.
“If the players perform as well as they did on selection here in the Bali camp, they will have no problems making the trip to Munich,” said the former Brazilian international.
“The players here showed great commitment in the AJFC and all of them have great a future ahead.”
