PETALING JAYA: Striker Siti Rohani Saptu’s 36th-minute winner was all it took for hosts Sarawak to lift the Tun Sharifah Rodziah Cup in Miri.
Her goal was enough for Sarawak to edge Kedah 1-0 in the national women’s football final at the Miri Stadium yesterday.
But Sarawak’s road to the final was not a smooth one as they had to rely on a shootout twice in the knockout stages.
On Wednesday, they got past 11-time winners Sabah 3-2 after a shootout in the quarter-finals. The following day, they edged Police 3-2 in similar fashion. Both games ended goalless in regulation time.
Police finished third after defeating Pahang 4-1.
