JOHOR BARU: Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) head coach Mario Gomez is pleased with his team’s progress in their pre-season tour of Thailand.

The Argentine said he was happy with the performance of his players despite their 1-0 loss to Air Force United on Wednesday.

“I’m not worried about the result. We are aware that the standard of football in Thailand is better. I got the opportunity to know my players’ abilities better and to see the options I have in the squad,” said Gomez in the Southern Tigers’ website.

The three-time Super League champions began their three-match tour with a 1-1 draw against Chonburi on Tuesday and will wrap up their campaign against Buriram United tomorrow.

Gomez expects the going to be tough against Buriram.

“We are here to learn and to improve on our style of play. We will also use this opportunity to rotate our players and give them as much exposure possible,” said Gomez.

Last night, JDT unveiled their new Nike kit after inking a three-year deal at Dataran Bandaraya.

The agreement extends across all four teams – JDT, JDT II, JDT III (President’s Cup) and JDT IV (Belia Youth League).

“We are incredibly excited to partner with Nike, who embodies the same unwavering spirit as our own,” said JDT president Tunku Tun Aminah Sultan Ibrahim.
