PARIS (Reuters) - English football fans hurling empty beer bottles and chairs clashed with French riot police in Marseille on Saturday, ahead of England's opening match of the Euro 2016 championships against Russia.

Television images showed one English supporter lying hurt on the ground as dozens of police blocked access to some streets in the city's Vieux Port (Old City) area.
