(Reuters) - Phil Neville is leaving his job as Valencia assistant coach and hoping to become a manager in his own right following his brother Gary's sacking as head coach at the end of March.

The former England international on Wednesday announced his intention to depart the day after Pako Ayestaran signed a two-year contract extension to stay on as Valencia head coach.
