New format for FAM Cup this year


PETALING JAYA: The FAM Cup will take on a new format this year.

For the first time, the knockout rounds and the final will be played over two-legs.

Two groups of nine teams each will be vying for the two slots in the Premier League next year.

The top four teams from each group will qualify for the quarter-finals.

There will be seven new faces in the fray – Sabah DYS, Kadazan Dusun Murut Malaysia (KDMM), Majlis Perbandaran Kota Baru-Bandar Raya Islam (MPKB-BRI), PB Melayu Malaysia, Perbadanan Kemajuan Negri Perak (PKNP), Syarikat Air Melaka Berhad (SAMB) and TNB Kilat.

The competition will kick off on Feb 28.
